The Best 250 Four Stroke Engine Dirt Bike Available

250cc engine technology has come a long way over the last several years as they have pretty much replaced learning on a 125. Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, and Yamaha all came out with great competition this year and I'll briefly cover some of the pro's and con's of each. As of now, Suzuki delayed the release of their 250 due to current market demand.

Although Yamaha's YZ250F has an awesome new chassis, their archaic engine could use a descent amount of improvement. Different skill level riders require different attributes of the bike to stand out. For instance if you're a beginner you're probably going to want a lot of handling and low end power, so the Kawasaki KX250F is definitely the one you'd want to go with. Also if you're a beginner or intermediate, the Honda is a close second because it handles well. However, it has a weaker engine and a high rev which will make you ride more aggressive, which may be a good or a bad.

KTM has great breaking power and really improved their 250 from last year to this year; however it still lags behind the competition. This bike needs to be rode aggressively in order to get everything out of it its capable of. KTM installed new triple clamps, a new airbox, a longer muffler, and new piston and rings. This bike has a lot of potential; by simply putting on an aftermarket exhaust, like an Akrapovic Evo exhaust, can increase the engines performance tremendously.

The Honda CRF250R would be my second favorite as it has a clean running EFI (electronic fuel injection) and, for the time being, is the only 250 with electronic fuel injection equipped. The EFI system eliminates a lot of rider's fear of carburetor bog. This year's Honda is best suited for a faster rider who can utilize the mid and top range. Other than that their engine is rather weak.

Living up to and surpassing the bar they set last year, Kawasaki made a bike with an amazing engine, suspension, and handling, making it the best 250 that's currently available. They tried making this EFI equipped also, but after testing it found that it didn't really surpass their 2009 250. It's the loudest of the four and gives you the best package. It has everything a race bike should have making Kawasaki the best 250 for the second year in a row.
