The '10 Tiguan and Its 2.0 Liter I4 Engine

Volkswagen's crossover SUV, the Tiguan, is designed to inject excitement into an otherwise bland market segment. This all three versions of this vehicle, the S, SE, and SEL, are powered by an inline 4 cylinder turbo charged engine in both its two wheel and all wheel drive versions. The turbo engine is intercooler equipped for optimal performance. The maximum horsepower of this engine, 200 hp is delivered at an engine speed of 5,100 rpm. The maximum torque, 207 foot pounds, is output at an engine speed of 1,700 rpm. This engine can power the Tiguan with a payload of 1,532 pounds and a towing load of 2,200 pounds. The sequential direct fuel injection and the Bosch Motronic MED engine management help the Tiguan deliver every ounce of its performance potential.

The 2.0 liter engine in fht Tiguan is composed of a cast iron block and an aluminum alloy cross flow head. It has a chain driven dual overhead cam (DOHC) camshaft and four valves per cylinder. The engine's bore is 82.5 mm and its stroke is 92.8 mm. The compression ration of the engine is 9.6 to 1.

Recommended to run on premium unleaded gasoline, the fuel economy of the Tiguan is good for its class of SUV. City gas mileage is estimated to be 19 mpg for the manual transmission and 18 mpg for the automatic. Highway mileage is 26 mph with the manual transmission and 24 for the automatic. The SUV is a ULEV II certified low emissions vehicle meaning that it is an environmentally responsible vehicle to drive.
